Spicy Classic Margarita

Spicy Classic Margarita

Sep 09, 2022

Margaritas are a staple drink of the southwest. You can find them in all different colors and flavors but they all achieve the same wonderful euphoria. Our favorite is a spicy version that carries more than the kick of tequila. This variation of a classic margarita was bestowed upon us by my parents after their many trips to Belize. While the alcohol and ratios were their doing, we added in a few twists of our own, including using a whole orange in the mix and adding Slow Noon as the rim salt. The mild heat from the Slow Noon really helps to balance out the sweetness and tang from the margarita mix.

These are one of those drinks that make the day fly by and put smiles on the faces of everyone who tries it. But do be careful, it's very easy to have too many, especially on a hot day by the pool.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Margarita Mix (we use Jose Cuervo)
  • 2 shots Silver Tequila
  • 1 shot Gold Tequila
  • 1 shot Triple Sec
  • 1 shot Blue Curacao
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Lime
  • 2 cups Ice
  • Turn Em Red - Slow Noon

Flavor:

  • Turn Em Red - Slow Noon

Prepare your glass:

  • Spread Slow Noon in a mounded circle on a small plate
  • Cut the lime into wedges
  • Use a lime wedge to wet the rim of the glass by splitting it over the rim and running it around the whole edge while lightly squeezing
  • Turn the glass upside down and spin it in the circle of Slow Noon

Prepare your margarita:

  • In a blender combine all of the liquids with the ice and orange
  • Blend until ice is crushed and it appears to be a slushy

Make the margarita

Pour the margarita mix from the blender into the glass and place a lime wedge on the side.

Take a picture of your masterpiece and drink the margarita.

Continue this process until you have achieved your desired level of fun for the day.

*Note - keeping the correct ratios and pouring without spilling will become more challenging as the day goes on. Please drink responsibly!
